Pennsylvania : Long-term care notes

Notes

Pennsylvania reports long-term care COVID-19 data for Nursing Homes, Assisted Living and personal care homes. CTP puts Nursing Home data in the Nursing Home category, Assisted Living in the Assisted Living category, and Long-Term Care data in the Lumped or Other category in our dataset. Pennsylvania reports cumulative data but not outbreak data. Pennsylvania does provide facility-level data. Pennsylvania reports staff and resident cases separately and staff and resident deaths as combined. Data is cumulative since March 19, 2020.   Pennsylvania provides cumulative totals for resident and staff cases and resident and staff deaths and number of facilities with a case.    Pennsylvania reports cumulative data as a summary chart with all facility types lumped together. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, this chart is the most accurate source for cumulative data. Pennsylvania also releases two spreadsheets with facility-level data on a weekly basis: one with Nursing Homes data reported by the PA Department of Health and one with Assisted Living and personal care home data reported by the PA Department of Human Services. However, within these facility-level spreadsheets, some cases and deaths are omitted and replaced with “No Data” or “redacted 1-4”.

Facility notes

The state provides facility-level cumulative data. The state does not provide facility-level outbreak data. Cumulative facility-level data was first reported by the state on 2020-06-04.

Because each state reports facility-level data differently, CTP has produced a number of scripts to make the dataset as standardized and comprehensive as possible. This state uses the following scripts: post_processing, standardize_data, replace_no_data. More information on each of these scripts can be found in our Airtable Facility Script Annotations.
