Data for February 9, 2021, will include cases from “catch-up reporting because of lengthy server downtime”. Additionally, they noted that death data is sourced from a different server and was not affected.

On 29 January, 2021, Pennsylvania posted a note on the dashboard that case counts today include backlogged antigen testing data from urgent care centers; 4,052 of today's newly identified cases had their specimens collected over a week ago.

On January 28, 2021, Pennsylvania [noted](https://www.media.pa.gov/pages/health-details.aspx?newsid=1273) that their case counts included backlogged antigen testing data, with 1,214 newly identified cases having their specimens collected over a week ago. Pennsylvania will continue to report this data over the next few days, which will in turn affect our reported case counts.

January 4, 2021

In addition, case counts for January 4, 2021 are "atypically low" due to technical maintenance.

On December 28, 2020, Pennsylvania's Total PCR tests (specimens) value increased by ~690,000 from 7,202,533 tests to 7,892,184 tests. On December 29, 2020, this Total PCR tests value decreased by ~580,000 to 7,312,858 tests. We were unable to find an explanation for this fluctuation.

On 10/22, PA reported issues with a “faulty data file” and said that “some” of the cases they reported that day should in fact have been reported in yesterday’s count. We reached out to ask for further context, as today’s new case count is very high for PA. A DOH spox responded and said that they do not know exactly how many cases they’re talking about here, though it’s “likely a hundred to a few hundred."

On 9/3, the state of PA released total PCR tests in units of Tests. Also clarified that negative and positive cases all refer to unique people -- any summation should probably go to the total tests (People) column

Variables affected:

PA doesn't report Total Tests, so we have to add positive + negative, and the negative units are unclear. So we moved the Total Tests metric to "Total Tests (PCR)" from "Total PCR Tests (People)." Additionally, we are backfilling the Total Tests (PCR) metric from 3/11-5/17 using the positive case values plus the negative case values we had already recorded.
