Minnesota : Long-term care notes

Notes

Minnesota reports long-term care COVID-19 data for Long-Term Care Facilities, which consists of Skilled Nursing Facilities and Assisted Living Facilities. COVID Tracking Project puts Long-Term-Care data in the Lumped or Other category in our dataset. Minnesota reports cumulative and outbreak data. Minnesota does provide facility-level data. Minnesota reports resident and staff cases separately. Minnesota reports resident deaths, not staff deaths. Data is cumulative since March 2020 for PCR tests.

Minnesota provides cumulative totals for resident and staff cases and resident deaths.

Minnesota provides outbreak data for the number of facilities with a case. Minnesota defines an outbreak as a facility with 1 or more cases in a 28-day period. An outbreak ends when 28 days have passed with no new confirmed case.

Minnesota reports facility-level data in two ways: a table on Minnesota’s dashboard and in a downloadable CSV file. The dashboard only contains the names of facilities with an active outbreak. The downloadable CSV contains cumulative resident and staff cases for each facility that’s reported an outbreak. Minnesota excludes facilities with 10 or fewer residents from their list of outbreak facilities.

Facility notes

The state provides facility-level cumulative data. The state does not provide facility-level outbreak data. Cumulative facility-level data was first reported by the state on 2020-06-25.

Because each state reports facility-level data differently, CTP has produced a number of scripts to make the dataset as standardized and comprehensive as possible. This state uses the following scripts: post_processing, standardize_data. More information on each of these scripts can be found in our Airtable Facility Script Annotations.
