Alaska : Long-term care notes

Notes

Alaska reports long-term-care COVID-19 data infrequently through Alaska Department of Health and Social Services Coronavirus Response press releases. CTP puts long-term care data in the Lumped or Other category in our dataset. Alaska reports cumulative and outbreak data. Alaska does provide facility-level data. Alaska reports staff and residents cases and deaths separately. Alaska does not report staff deaths.

Alaska reports cumulative data for resident and staff cases and resident deaths.

Alaska reports the number of cases that are “active”. COVID Tracking Project categorized “active” cases as outbreak data. Alaska defines an outbreak as 1 or more cases in a 14-day period. An outbreak is closed after 14 days without a new case.

Alaska sporadically reports facility-level data in their press releases.

Alaska’s press releases report newly confirmed cases and deaths at specific facilities, not cumulative totals. To collect a cumulative total COVID Tracking Project added each press release’s new cases and deaths together. Due to the press release’s irregularity, data was frequently backfilled.

COVID Tracking Project reviewed Alaska’s website on May 26, 2021 and found the archive of press releases removed. Multiple press release links redirect to Alaska Department of Health and Social Services webpage or a page “not found”.
