Alabama : Long-term care notes

Alabama reports long-term care COVID-19 data. The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) defines Long Term Care (LTC) as prolonged care of residents in licensed institutions and/or organized departments within a licensed institution where the average length of resident stay is 25 days or longer. CTP puts long-term care data in the Lumped or Other category in our dataset. Alabama reports cumulative data, but not outbreak data. Data is cumulative since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Alabama on March 13, 2020. Alabama does not report facility-level data.

Cumulative data on resident cases and staff cases are reported separately. No data on deaths is reported publicly. Alabama health officials have regularly provided The COVID Tracking Project with resident death data via email. Staff deaths are not reported.

• June 24, 2020: 412 cumulative resident deaths reported by ADPH by email to CTP
• July 2, 2020: 488 cumulative resident deaths reported by ADPH by email to CTP. This data is carried over until August 6, 2020.
• August 13, 2020: 732 cumulative resident deaths were reported by ADPH by email to CTP.
• September 24, 2020: 931 cumulative deaths were reported by the ADPH to CTP via email.
• October 1, 2020: 936 deaths in residents of Long Term Care (LTC) were reported to CTP by the Alabama Department of Health via email.
• October 8, 2020: Cumulative resident deaths is carried over from October 1, 2020. ADPH didn't send CTP an update of current cumulative residents deaths.
• October 29, 2020: 1,022 cumulative resident deaths were reported by the ADPH to CTP via email.
• November 19, 2020: 1,144 cumulative resident deaths were reported by the ADPH to CTP via email.
• November 26, 2020: No update on resident cumulative deaths from the Alabama Department of Health. Data is carried over from November 19, 2020.
• December 3, 2020: No update on resident cumulative deaths from the Alabama Department of Health. Data is carried over from November 19, 2020.
• December 10, 2020: 1,205 cumulative resident deaths were reported by the ADPH to CTP via email.
• December 17, 2020: No update on resident cumulative deaths from the Alabama Department of Health. Data is carried over from December 10, 2020.
• December 24, 2020: No update on resident cumulative deaths from the Alabama Department of Health. Data is carried over from December 10, 2020.
• January 14, 2021: No update on resident cumulative deaths from the Alabama Department of Health. Data is carried over from January 7, 2021.
• January 21, 2021: 1,625 cumulative resident deaths were reported by the ADPH to CTP via email.
• January 28, 2021 - February 25, 2021: No update on resident cumulative deaths from the Alabama Department of Health. Data is carried over from January 21, 2021.
