North Dakota : Long-term care notes

North Dakota reports long-term care data for Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living Facilities, and Basic Care Facilities. COVID Tracking Project puts Nursing Home data in the Nursing Home category, Assisted Living in the Assisted Living category, and Basic Care Facility data in the Lumped or Other category in our dataset. North Dakota reports cumulative and outbreak data. North Dakota provides facility-level data. North Dakota reports resident and staff cases separately. The state reports resident and staff deaths combined.

North Dakota provides cumulative totals for resident and staff deaths. North Dakota occasionally provided the COVID Tracking Project with resident and staff cases via email.

North Dakota  provides outbreak data for resident and staff cases. North Dakota defines an outbreak as a facility with 1 case in a 60-day period. An outbreak ends when 60 days have passed with no new confirmed case.

• Before June 18, 2020: Data was gathered from ND’s dashboard.
• July 30, 2020: Cumulative data is carried over from July 23, 2020.
• August 6, 2020: North Dakota didn't send CTP the facility-level long-term care cumulative spreadsheet. Cumulative data is carried over from July 23, 2020.
• October 1, 2020: North Dakota's cumulative cases in Other decreased from 60 to 41.
• November 5 - December 12, 2020: North Dakota did not send CTP the facility-level long-term care cumulative spreadsheet. Cumulative data is carried over from October 29, 2020.
• December 24, 2020: North Dakota did not provide CTP with updated cumulative totals. Previous totals are carried over
• February 11, 2021: North Dakota provided CTP with cumulative facility-level data via email. All cumulative case totals decreased according to this sheet.
• February 18, 2021: A note on North Dakota's COVID dashboard read: "Deaths within LTC increased by 24 due to a comparison of deaths reported from Death Certificates and COVID-19 surveillance data. These additional deaths occurred throughout the duration of the pandemic."
• February 25, 2021: Nursing home cumulative staff cases decreased by 1. Assisted living cumulative staff cased decreased by 1.

The state provides facility-level cumulative data. The state provides facility-level outbreak data. Cumulative facility-level data was first reported by the state on 2020-06-18. Outbreak facility-level data was first reported by the state on 2020-06-01.

Because each state reports facility-level data differently, CTP has produced a number of scripts to make the dataset as standardized and comprehensive as possible.
