On January 13, 2021, North Carolina reported that technical issues occurring on January 12, 2021 prevented processing of case and testing data into their COVID reporting system. As a result, case and testing data reported on January 13, 2021 are lower than they would have been had all the data been processed, and case and testing data on January 14, 2021 will be increased, since it will include the previous day's data.

On November 12, 2020, North Carolina released a public note detailing [revisions to reporting criteria] (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/duration-isolation.html) for hospitalizations, likely resulting in "a one-time increase in hospitalizations and a continued higher number under the new definition." The note also detailed a modified time for which the data is pulled for dashboards, resulting in "a one-time artificial decrease in the number of tests, cases and deaths on Friday, Nov.13, 2020."

Upon further outreach and review of the document linked in sources, we have updated our understanding of how NC reports total test results. NC's total tests include results from all tests administered for one person and have reported that the unit for total tests is specimens. Therefore, we moved all values from Total PCR Tests (People) to Total Tests (PCR).
