On January 1, 2021, the Tennessee Department of Health announced that its update for January 2, 2021 would include data from both January 1 and January 2, presumably because of the holiday. We were able to update **Now hospitalized** from Tennessee’s separate hospitalization source.

Additionally, they [noted](https://twitter.com/TNDeptofHealth/status/1342952651022086147) that the data reported on December 26, 2020, included two days of data, and that the number of deaths reported were “limited” due to the holiday.

Please exercise caution when looking at data from this time period and be aware that 7 day averages may be a more reliable metric than individual figures at this moment.

On 10/25, TN's hospitalization numbers dropped steeply due to ~30 fewer hospitals reporting. This seems to be a regular occurrence that we will note.

October 22, 2020

On 10/22, TN's website had issues with Tableau, and we were unable to update Currently Hospitalized, Currently in ICU, and Currently on Ventilator. We carried over these values.

October 21, 2020

On 10/13, TN's Currently Hospitalized, Currently in ICU, and Currently on Ventilator numbers all increased by significant amounts. Currently Hospitalized: 945 > 1245 Currently in ICU: 269 > 339 Currently on Ventilator: 131 > 156

After closer investigation, it seems that TN backfilled all of their current hospitalization values, causing this increase to be artificially large. This is routine occurrence with TN.
