COVID Tracking Project puts Long-Term Care Facilities data in Lumped or Other category in our dataset. New Jersey reports cumulative and outbreak data. New Jersey provides facility-level data. The state reports cumulative and current outbreak data for cases and deaths.
New Jersey provides cumulative totals for resident and staff cases and resident and staff deaths and number of facilities with a case.
New Jersey provides outbreak data for resident and staff cases. New Jersey defines an outbreak as a facility with 1 case in a 28-day period. An outbreak ends when 28 days have passed with no new confirmed case.
New Jersey reports facility-level data.
Death data include probable and laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases.
- May 15, 2020: CTP reported cumulative cases and deaths of residents and staff combined.
- July 16, 2020: New Jersey’s first reporting of current outbreak data was captured by CTP.
- August 6, 2020: New Jersey’s reported cumulative totals for resident cases and resident deaths decreased from the cumulative totals provided on July 30, 2020.
- January 28, 2021: CTP began collecting data of facilities with a concluded outbreak.
- February 4, 2021: New Jersey's cumulative residented cases decreased by 376 and cumulative staff cases decreased by 981.

Facility notes
The state provides facility-level cumulative data. The state provides facility-level outbreak data. Cumulative facility-level data was first reported by the state on 2020-12-24. Outbreak facility-level data was first reported by the state on 2020-12-24.
Because each state reports facility-level data differently, CTP has produced a number of scripts to make the dataset as standardized and comprehensive as possible.
